Verification Standards

How verification works at Solifacet

Before a piece lists, the founder personally goes to the seller, inspects the piece in person — it exists, it matches its description, its condition is as stated — and checks the certification/papers that come with it.

What we do NOT do (yet), stated plainly: melee diamonds and small accent stones are not individually lab-inspected. Inspecting each one costs more than the margin on the piece, so the industry standard is not to verify those individually. We do not claim otherwise anywhere.

If a piece turns out not to be as described, Solifacet handles it personally, case by case, and makes it right — including covering costs out of pocket when the situation warrants it. Customer service is founder-led, not a ticket queue.

What we're building (label this clearly as PLANNED, not current): a verification partner facility that will inspect every piece before it ships. Do NOT present this as already in place.

Analysis

Where Solifacet differs

Depop offers an energetic community for discovering unique vintage apparel and trendy accessories. However, Depop is not specialized in fine jewelry, does not authenticate precious stones or metals, and leaves listing descriptions to everyday consumers. Solifacet differs by focusing solely on fine jewelry and precious stones, where every seller is vetted, every piece is inspected in person by the founder, and customer service is founder-led.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions & Answers

Solifacet vs Depop — what's the difference?

Depop is an open social marketplace for vintage and streetwear fashion with no jewelry specialists. Solifacet is a dedicated marketplace for fine jewelry and precious stones, where the founder personally inspects each piece and its documents in person before listing.

What does 'verified' mean on Solifacet?

On Solifacet, verified means the founder has traveled to the seller, personally inspected the physical piece to ensure it exists, matches its description, and reflects its stated condition, and reviewed its accompanying certificates or documentation. It does not mean every melee diamond or tiny accent stone has undergone independent lab analysis, as those stones are not individually tested.

What is Solifacet's return policy?

Solifacet provides a 3-day inspection window following delivery for approved claims involving counterfeit items or material misrepresentation, supported by valid proof. Change-of-mind returns are not accepted, as purchase terms are confirmed in writing prior to payment.

Can I get jewelry authenticated on Depop?

Depop does not offer a physical jewelry authentication service. Buyers must rely on seller photographs and descriptions, with recourse limited to dispute claims for misdescribed items.
